Recently diagnosed with ADHD as an adult? This workshop will help you address some of the ways to set yourself up for success! You’re going to learn about time management, prioritization and keeping to-do lists, goal-setting, techniques for behavior change, organizational skills, and strategies and accommodations at work.
For Adults ages 18+
Led by Kelley Schuler, MA, BCBA, LPC
Who this workshop is for:
- Parents with children grades K-8 with executive functioning deficits (autism,
ADHD, anxiety). - Parents who want to better understand their child's diagnosis.
- Parents who want to feel more confident what parenting style, teaching
techniques, and discipline is most effective for children with executive
functioning deficits. - Parents who need help with behavior management.
What will be included in this 4-session workshop:
- Days 1 and 2 are dedicated to understanding diagnosis and how your child’s brain
works. Focus will be on executive functioning deficits and how these
translate into the behavior you are seeing at home. Knowing what is
diagnosis versus other behavior is essential to making informed and
effective parenting decisions. Parents will learn teaching techniques to strengthen EF deficits. - Day 3 will begin with a crash course in behavior management, teaching parents how to analyze why their child is engaging in certain behaviors. The main focus will on teaching parents strategies to decrease undesired behavior and increase desired behavior. Parents will learn how their response to behavior can make it more or less likely to occur in the future.
- Days 1-3 will be lecture style with slideshow and handouts. Day 4 has been added at the request of past workshop attendees. This day will be question and answer only, so that parents can get feedback and begin practicing how to implement workshop strategies to work on the specific behavior issues they are experiencing at home.
