What do you most look forward to about the work you do?

I most look forward to creating a protected place where folx can be present as their most authentic whole-self, where they can name their struggles without feeling defined or confined by the harder aspects of life, and where they feel unconditionally worthy and valued.

What do you most value about the work you do?

I most value the connection of this work! It is an honor and privilege to witness the stories and experiences of others and to connect in our innate and imperfect humanness. Connection creates empathy, which helps keep us from being isolated in shame for simply existing as a human.

What is something clients might never guess about you?

Since we live in the land-locked state of Colorado, people rarely guess that I am an advanced open-water scuba diver with special training in shipwreck diving. My favorite part of diving is co-existing with marine life in their natural space, especially sharks!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to stay a kid! I never want to let go of the pure curiosity and wonder that childhood grants us – “growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional!”

I am a licensed professional counselor and licensed addiction counselor, working in Fort Collins, Colorado. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from Colorado State University. Go Rams! I started practicing after graduation in December of 2016, after having already worked milieu management for adolescent residential treatment for offense-specific youth. I went on to work at a variety of levels of care, including traditional outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential care. I have also worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient offices, residential facilities, jails, schools, and in the community.

I use a person-centered approach to therapy, knowing that no one knows you better than you! I am trauma-informed and specialize in treating trauma and substance use disorders. I work to ensure that our time together is safe and structured how you need it to be to genuinely honor your experiences and goals.

I am a Colorado native, though I love to travel, especially if scuba diving is involved! I enjoy being in the kitchen baking a variety of confections. I love a good book, and despite my years of dedication to hardcovers, have recently discovered the ease of a Kindle. My favorite thing to do is spend quality time with my daughter, husband, and menagerie of animals!
