I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Fort Collins, Colorado. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Masters in Social Work in August of 2013 and have over three years of clinical experience working with individuals across the lifespan. Typical challenges that I help with include: addiction, trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, adolescent transition, behavioral issues in children, GLBTQIA & identity concerns, and life stress. I have worked in a state-funded Outpatient Addictions facility as well as a group mental health practice in which I saw folks from ages 5-64 years old.
I find joy in being part of my clients’ successes and humility in being part of their challenges. As a therapist, I approach clients where they are at. As a therapist, I strive to develop strong relationships with my clients and help them develop the tools they need to gain more control of their own lives. I approach sessions with focus on empathy, collaboration, goal setting, and curiosity about you as a person. I use an eclectic approach in my therapeutic techniques, and depending on the client and their needs, will rely on many different modalities. I have experienced success with my clients using approaches such as mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and EMDR. I draw inspiration from both attachment theory and trauma-informed practices. I am a strong ally to LGBTQ youth and young adults.
On a more personal level, I grew up in Joliet, Illinois (south of Chicago) and moved to Champaign-Urbana more permanently after college. My husband and I got married after 10 years of friendship, and for our honeymoon we travelled the country to find where our hearts belonged. We fell in love with Fort Collins and are excited to begin a new season in our lives! When I am not working you can find me in a Crossfit gym lifting weights for empowerment, finding a new trail or natural beauty to explore, hanging out with my husband, playing board games, or enjoying some relaxing time with our cat.
